GOOSE VPN uses the following protocols: IKEv2, L2TP/IPSec, PPtP and OpenVPN. The main features of these protocols are described below:
IKEv2
High security with high speed. Works on newer devices, but can be blocked faster.
This is our standard protocol, we support IKEv2 for almost all devices where the software is up to date.
As mentioned, this is a very fast protocol, which is why we have chosen to make it the standard protocol.
L2TP/IPSec
Medium security with normal speed. Works on many devices.
L2TP is mainly used for routers and modems, this is a medium speed protocol but works on a wide range of devices. In addition, we now also support this protocol in our IOS application. We also use the IPSec protocol as an extra security layer on top of the L2TP protocol.
PPtP
Medium security with normal speed. Works on almost all devices.
PPtP is almost the same as L2TP, only it is a bit older and therefore works better on older devices.
This protocol is also supported on some router models.
OpenVPN
Practically indistinguishable from standard HTTPS traffic (can be masked) but is slower.
OpenVPN is a protocol that is almost impossible to intercept, this is because it is very similar to a secure connection of a website.
This protocol works very well with Windows 10, but is also available for other devices and some models of routers.
