How to setup OpenVPN on LibreELEC Kodi (for GooseVPN users)

Before we are going to install OpenVPN. We need to do some other things first.

Part 1. Create a pass.txt file and move it to your Kodi device.

Part 1: Create a pass.txt file and move it to your Kodi device.

1. Create a file that contains the user name and password and name this file txt

The user name is your e-mail address and the password is your unique token. Which can be found at the portal.

2. Login with your credentials at https://my.goosevpn.com/downloads

When you select 'Router' or 'Manuel settings', you see at the Right the Token with a unique number.

4. Now save the file to a location for example to the My Documents folder and move it to your Kodi Device. To make it easier I would like to recommend FileZilla for

6. Once you have downloaded Filezilla install it and open

Type the ip address of your kodi device for example 192.168.0.10 and followed by it’s credentials. If you are using LibreELEC the credentials are by default as follow.

 

User: root
Password: libreelec
Port: 22

7. Now go to /storage/downloads location and create a new folder. Just name it vpn

8. Now move the pass.txt file to /storage/downloads/vpn

 

Part 2. Download and edit an ovpn file

1. Login with your credentials at https://my.goosevpn.com/downloads

2. Now it’s time to download the ovpn file and edit the file. I will only download 1 file in this case to show how the configuration should look like. To make it easier just click on the link

3. After you have downloaded the file (nl-24.ovpn). Open it with a text We will make 2 changes to file we will remove the line “Keepalive 5 60”. And add another line which points to your “pass.txt” file

4. After the changes save the file and again move it again by using Filezilla. To the folder

/storage/downloads/vpn

 

Part 3: Install OpenVPN

1. Download and save the Zomboided repository here.

2. Open Filezilla again and move the file service.vpn.manager-master.zip to

/storage/downloads/vpn

3. Open Kodi

4. Click Add-ons

5. Click add-ons

6. Click on ..

7. Click on Install from zip file

8. Navigate to Home > Downloads > VPN

9. Click on the service.vpn.manager-master.zip file and click the OK

10. Now that the Zomboided Add-on Repository is installed, you can download the VPN manager by selecting 'Install from repository' on the Add-ons page

 

Part 4. Configure OpenVPN

1. Go back to Add-ons you will see under Program add-ons VPN Manager for OpenVPN

2. Click Settings and choose Wizard

3. Select VPN Provider press the enter key and select “User Defined”.

4. Click on yes at all

5. When you get the question to select Files or Choose Directory now navigate to

/storage/downloads/vpn and click OK. All files will be imported now. If any questions are popping up click Yes to all.

6. At the User name type your e-mail address that you used earlier for your txt for example test@test.com followed by your password which is your token.

7. Select first VPN profile in this case nl-24 (TCP) and press enter

8. Now it will try to connect to the Goose VPN If everything is correct it will say connected.

9. That’s it you have now configured OpenVPN on your Kodi device. It will also automatically connect OpenVPN when you restart your Kodi
