In this manual, we will explain how to download, install, and configure OpenVPN Connect on MacOS. Follow these simple steps to manually install and use a VPN server using a .ovpn file.
Step 1: Go to the OpenVPN Connect website and download the software for your computer.
Step 2: Install the software on your computer.
Step 3: Go to your personal portal on my.goosevpn.com.
Step 4: Click on 'Downloads' on the left side of the screen.
Step 5: Select 'Manual Configuration' at the top of the screen.
Step 6: Click the downward arrow next to '.ovpn files (OpenVPN)'.
Step 7: Click the downward arrow next to the desired server you want to use.
Step 8: Open the OpenVPN Connect application.
Step 9: Click on the three lines in the top left corner to open the menu of the OpenVPN Connect app.
Step 10: Click on 'Settings'.
Step 11: Scroll down and click on 'Advanced Settings'.
Step 12: Click on 'Confirm'.
Step 13: Select the checkbox for 'IPv4-only Tunnel' under 'IPv6 Tunnel Preferences'.
Step 14: Go back to the main menu of the OpenVPN Connect app.
Step 15: Click the '+' sign at the bottom right corner of the OpenVPN Connect application.
Step 16: Click on 'File' at the top of the screen.
Step 17: Drag and drop the downloaded .ovpn file into the upload box or manually select the .ovpn file by clicking 'Browse'.
Step 18: Enter your username (email address) used for your GooseVPN account.
Step 19: Check 'Save Password'.
Step 20: Go back to your web browser with your personal portal of GooseVPN open, and select and copy your 'Token' on the right side of the screen.
Step 21: Paste this token into the password field in the OpenVPN Connect app.
Step 22: Click on 'Connect'.
Step 23: Click on 'Continue' if prompted to upload a certificate.
Congratulations! You have now added a VPN server of your choice to the OpenVPN Connect application. You can toggle the server on and off by clicking the on/off switch next to the server.
