1. Introduction
This manual will help you to install GOOSE VPN with the OpenVPN Connect app on your iOS device step by step.
2. Download the OpenVPN Connect app
Download the OpenVPN Connect app via the website: https://openvpn.net/client-connect-vpn-for-mac-os/.
Complete the installation.
3. Download the files from GOOSE VPN
Then, we need to download some files. Open the following webpage in your browser:
https://my.goosevpn.com/downloads
Scroll down on mobile devices or look at the right side of the page on devices with a larger screen.
Below documents you will see a token. Remember where you can find this token. You will need it later.
Click .ovpn files
Here you can download the .ovpn files we need. These documents include the OpenVPN configurations with which you can connect with our servers. For example, the Netherlands 1.ovpn file is needed to connect with the Netherlands 1 server.
4. Start and configure the OpenVPN Connect app
You Can skip the Onboarding Tour. We will walk you through the right steps.
Klik the three lines in the top left and go to Settings. Check if the IPv6 preferences are set to "IPv4-ONLY TUNNEL".
5. Import the .ovpn file
Go back to the home screen. Here you can import the .ovpn file you have just downloaded. You can simply drag the file in or navigate to it via the browse button that is displayed.
6. Add the profile
Now you will see a screen where you have to enter a Username and Password. Click on "Username" and enter the email address you used to register with GOOSE VPN.
Then click on Password. Here you have to enter the token you saw in the third step. We recommend that you copy the token from the webpage and paste it into this input field.
After you have entered your email address and the token, you need to click the Add button at the top right to add this profile.
NOTE: Do you not see the password field? Then tick Save password. You don't have to enter the token again in the future. The password field will then be shown. Do you not want to save your password? Then you can enter the token in the next step.
7. Activate the OpenVPN profile
The profile you have just added now appears in this list. If you checked Connect after import in the previous step, the app will automatically connect with the server. If not, click the grey toggle at the left side to activate this OpenVPN profile and connect with this server.
If you didn't enter your password in the previous step, you will now be asked to do so. Enter the token you found in step 3.
8. Select a certificate
A popup will appear with a message about selecting a certificate. This is not necessary for our connection, so you can just click Continue here.
9. Add more servers or stop the connection
Eventually, the toggle should get green and the VPN connection starts. Now you can add more profiles for other servers by clicking the big orange button at the bottom right. This will make it easy to switch between different servers.
If you want to stop the VPN connection, you can click the green toggle. The toggle will turn grey again.
10. Enable IPv4 tunneling function
It's important to enable the IPv4-only tunnel in the advanced options. This way, your potential IPv6 address remains undisclosed. To configure this, follow these steps:
-
Go to settings.
-
Scroll down and select advanced settings.
-
Scroll further down and choose the option: 'IPv4-only tunnel'.
-
Now, return to the main menu.
10. Do the free online privacy check
To see if the VPN connection is set up correctly, you can use our free online privacy check. The website will immediately let you know if your connection is secured or not.
Does the website indicate that you are safe online?
Congratulations! You are now secure only with GOOSE VPN via the OpenVPN Connect app on your macOS device.
